OVERVIEW

What is the POD?

A fully sealed, pressure-resistant enclosure that houses production-grade servers in a submerged environment — engineered to operate continuously underwater, with the surrounding ocean as its cooling system.

Sealed Enclosure

Engineered for long-duration immersion, the POD shell isolates servers from water, dust, and humidity while transferring heat through the enclosure wall.

Passive Cooling

No fans, no chillers, no evaporative towers. Ambient water carries heat away through natural convection — the POD itself is the cooling system.

Remotely Operated

Continuous telemetry on thermal, electrical, and compute metrics — delivered from the submerged POD to operations 24/7.

Modular by Design

Each POD is a self-contained module. Capacity can be added one unit at a time or in coordinated fleets, depending on site requirements.

PHYSICS

Why underwater?

🌡

Thermal Capacity

Water conducts heat roughly 25× more effectively than air and has far higher thermal mass, absorbing compute heat without temperature swings.

Passive Transfer

Natural convection moves heat away from the POD surface, eliminating the mechanical energy conventional systems spend moving air or liquid.

Stable Environment

Submerged temperatures are stable year-round, insulated from heat waves, droughts, and weather events that stress surface facilities.

HEAT TRANSFER

How heat leaves the POD

Heat generated by servers inside the POD moves to the enclosure wall through an internal transfer medium. From the wall, ambient water carries it away through natural convection.

The result is a fully passive thermal loop: no moving parts in the cooling path, no energy overhead, no water consumed. The ocean is the radiator.

Monitoring & maintenance

📊

24/7 Remote Monitoring

Full telemetry on thermal, electrical, and compute metrics — delivered from the POD to operations continuously.

🔧

Servicing Approach

PODs are designed as replaceable units. Servicing strategies favor retrieval and swap over on site intervention.

🛡

System Resilience

Sealed construction removes the dust, humidity, and temperature fluctuation that drive hardware failure in traditional facilities.
